Marapong born, Samuel Mbise states that for him the road to becoming a comedian long started when he was young. He said that he has always been the source of his family entertainment.

The 25-year-old stand up comedian asserted that he has never sat down and structured his jokes because that kills spontaneity

and the impact of a joke. He said that instead his jokes just come randomly, inspired by different settings. Mbise’s concern

is that Batswana have little faith in the local talent. He said that instead of embracing local talent Batswana are quick to overlook them and outsource. As a marketing tool, Mbise has taken to the video w e b s i t e YouTube and uploaded a performance video of himself. The video called Mind Your Language “ uploaded in February has already managed to receive some feedback, most of it positive. Mbise shared that he decided to name the trailer Mind Your Language after he observed that people love to speak English yet they always do not do it right.

Judging from the trailer, it’s no doubt Mbise is talented. He however needs to tone down on the use of the word “man” which he uses at almost every sentence ending on the trailer. Halfway through the video, one picks up that up and it is quite a spoiler for the remaining bit of the video. However with a bit of polishing here and there, the young lad can do well in comedy as a full time career. In the meantime, stand up gigs could be his best shot at improving his joke deliverance.
