Even though Mingo left Vee’s record label to be an independent artist, word has it that the artist is not doing well on his own.
The kwaito star released an album last year that saw his comeback after many years not being in the market. Even though the album titled Party Phologolo did not do well in terms of sales, it had hit tracks like Ke A Nyala that is still on rotation.
Speaking to Showbiz, Mingo mentioned that he is very pleased that he is back with Black Money Makers. He added that people have always been nagging him to return.
“I was under Vee in 2004 and he is the person who made me what I was back then but then after realising that I am a star, I became big headed and decided to leave him because I thought I could make it on my own. Little did I know I was wrong,” he said.
Mingo added that when he saw that his musical career was not doing well, he decided to approach Vee and ask to get back under the label.
“Even though I left his record label, Vee and I have always remained friends. When I saw him at church I decided to ask him to take me back and he did. Besides his fans have also been asking him why he let me go,” he said.
Vee told Showbiz that he took Mingo back after he realised that he is a very talented individual. He could be a big hit, but only if he is has the right guidance and nurturing, Vee said. He added that this could only be achieved if he is under his wing.
“I believe I can turn the young man into a big musician just like I did before. He was under my guidance when he started and he was doing very well until he decided to turn his back on me. But apart from that I see some of myself in him when I started out as a musician,” he said.
Vee further explained that he was pleased when Mingo decided to return.
He added that Mingo would be releasing a hot single before the end of this month.
“We are currently in the studio. So far we have recorded a single that will be out before end of this month. People should expect something very different because now he is back with the best. If he has lost fans over the years he will soon be getting them back,” he said.
He further said that as soon as they finish recording other songs, the full album would follow.
“I decided to try new exciting things with Mingo and all this will be best for him and our record label. I feel he is the future of music in our country and for that I am going to do my absolute best to help him,” he said.
