Modubule’s wife and two sons had gone to stock up for the family shop in Mogobane when their truck was stolen. It is reported that unidentified thieves drove away with the loaded truck in Johannesburg.

Modubule explained that the family had parked and momentarily gone into a shop to buy a few items, only to return to an empty parking bay. He has given up all hopes of ever finding the vehicle after the South African police informed his wife that they could not help her find it.

“When my wife reported the crime, she was simply told that it is her individual responsibility to track the car. They said they only track cars if someone has been killed or injured during the crime. It is very sad because that was our only truck; it was helping us a lot. This is a draw back, but we thank God my wife and my sons were not injured.”

Because one of the son’s passport was in the stolen vehicle, the family had to seek help from the Botswana embassy in Pretoria to seek an emergency travel document, said the Lobatse legislator.

Hence they had to spend a night and on Friday afternoon, they were reportedly still to board public transport to return.
