Yune is expected to stay in Botswana up until April 23, to assess and support his friend’s campaign. Yune arrived in Gaborone on Friday morning, and then flew with Boko to Maun in the afternoon to attend Tawana Moremi’s Saturday launch.

Yune said he sees Boko as a leader and he would not be surprised if he won the October general elections. Yune and Boko will be visiting constituencies in Gantsi and Kgalagadi, amongst others.

“I met Boko before he became a politician and when I came here we used to go to court together. Now he is a politician and I have to come to give him support as a friend. But I am not a politician and I feel a strong leader should be voted in,” he said. Yune is expected to return to home on April 23.

Boko said people should not be surprised if his campaign tactics change as his friends are giving him moral support.

Boko told The Monitor that UDC may buy vehicles for the campaign but would not shed light on who would sponsor that project.

“We do not have money like the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP). Should our friends and party members help us to do so, we would,” he said, further stating that their members and friends “are already helping us in the campaigns”.
