Bagopi proved that she is not just a pretty face when she wowed the judges with her answers outshining the other contestants.  She won P10,000.  Gafaone Mosimanewamacha from Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency (CEDA) came second and walked away with P5,000, while Standard Chartered bank’s Godiraone Santagae came in as second princess taking home P3,000 prize.

The event, which was held at Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC) was attended by a large number of people were dressed to the nines staying true to this year’s theme Moulin Rouge.

Not only were the attendees dressed beautifully, but also the décor had a touch of red, white and black colours.  The pageant is done yearly as a form of entertainment for members of the banking fraternity and the public.

Chairperson of the Interbanks Committee, Keletso Odubeng, mentioned that the beauty contest is meant to give workers an opportunity to relax, unwind, showcase their different talents away from their daily office work and most importantly to interact with their customers.

“Committee members from the 12 banks were given the task to select two women who will represent their bank so we ended up with 20 as two banks only managed to bring one person.  We had no special requirements while we were selecting the top 20 so everyone had the opportunity to enter as long as they work in a bank,” she said.

She added that this year they wanted to spice things up by making the theme Moulin Rouge. “This is a fun way of dressing up as it is playful, sassy and sexy.  The aim of this event is to have fun so what better way of having fun than to be sexy and look beautiful.  I am glad many kept to the theme,” she said.

Lesedi Matlapeng, the designer, impressed once again this year with her show stopping gowns.

As expected, the crowd’s favourite parade was the swimwear, which revealed the women’s beautifully toned bodies.  The cherry on top was the eveningwear where contestants dressed up in their beautiful gowns showing off their figures.

Another performance that had many excited was by award winning South African group Micasa.  The gentlemen gave a stunning performance as they serenaded the audience with their charm and famous songs including Turn Me On and Jika, which had many leaving their chairs for the dance floor.

Newly wed songbird Samantha Mogwe, showered the audience with her beautiful voice.  Mogwe had the audience eating out of the palm of her hand with her latest single and later sang Transition, which many appreciated.
