Peter, Kago, Boikanyo, Elnie, Kebonye, Leanard, Obakeng, Tshegofatso, Tumisang and Ontefetse on Friday night were all happy faces as they officially made it to the top 10 spot.
Although this was a happy night for the top 10, it was also a sad night for Patricia, Eric, Mpho and Omolemo who were unable to convince the judges to keep them on.
This may seem like an achievement in the competition, but the show producer Master Dee said this is crunch time as this is the stage that now reveals best from the lot. He emphasised that this stage can make or break the contestants.
“Top 10 is the time where we are going to see singers who are fit enough to record and those that are still playing with their talent and all this is based on the public’s votes,” he said.
He then advised the public to start voting wisely, but mostly for talent.
“Being in the top 10 clearly shows that these contestants are capable of releasing their own material so I encourage the viewers to vote for the contestant that shows all the qualities of recording.
There should not vote for the entertainer, but for the one who entertains as well as sings good,” he said.
He added that this season has been a difficult one as compared to the previous ones as all contestants came with unique voices. He said: “I am sure people can back me up if I say all the people who made it to the show were very talented vocally and they all brought their A games to the show and each week we were sad to lose contestants but at the end we are looking for one winner, it had to be done,” he said.
Master Dee further pointed out that the show is now beginning to be interesting. He explained that next week the viewers would start to see their favourite contestants teaming up and singing in groups.
“The blending of voices will surely excite many and seeing their favourite contestants sharing the stage together will make their night as they have been asking us to do it.
Like other seasons there will also be challenge songs were we test the contestant’s ability to write good lyrics. This is the time where viewers will see if they are voting for the right or wrong person,” he said.
He said they will continue cutting down the number of contestants till they are left with only three who stand a chance to be crowned the winner and will be walking away with a grand prize of P100,000 including a trip to United Kingdom and scholarship in a school of their choice.
“The second and third runner up will also win cash prizes and a scholarship so all the top three are winners. Tickets for the grand finale which will be on July 4 will soon be out on sale,” he said.
