Pageant calls all curvy women

The beauty contest will be held next month in Windhoek under the theme Models Paint For Charity.

One of the organisers, Thuto Marobela, said Botswana has beautiful curvy women who are comfortable in their own skin. He said last year they managed to send Thabang Lesejane who represented the country well.

Even though she did not make the top three, Maribela said that they we were happy with how she performed, as it was the first time a Motswana participated in the pageant.

“We feel the experience she gathered is good enough to help us prepare for this year’s pageant plus Lesejane was loved and adored by many.

This is a charity pageant, which aims at combining extensive experience with the passion to give back to the community. It started in 2009 as Miss Curvy Africa and later changed to Diamond Queen Africa.

We are hoping to find two ambassadors here who will represent the rest of curvy women in Botswana who are proud of their bodies,” he said.

Marobela explained that the name had to be changed because the directors found it fit to define African women’s curves as a diamond to show just how precious they are hence the slogan ‘they have diamonds in their curves’.

Marobela explained that this particular pageant demonstrates that all women are beautiful and should celebrate their God-given bodies.

He said upon arrival at Namibia, the different contestants will be involved in charitable deeds that will see them painting homes for elderly people, the less fortunate and orphans living in Namibia.

“The contestants are expected to gather gallons of paint through donations while they are there, as well as indulge the Namibian community in their painting projects, which should be complete by the time they go on stage to compete for the crown,” he said

Auditions are scheduled for next Saturday.

“Our country is blessed with so many curvy woman, so this is their chance to flaunt their asserts to the rest of the world so we are expecting a huge turn out for the auditions,” he said.
