Speaking to Showbiz in an interview, Thokwana said that she wants to expose her works to would-be clients of all ages.
“I am creating a platform for potential buyers to purchase books in bulk and for individuals,” the 22-year-old said, adding that some of her works are intended for the school market. Thokwana, who also happens to be a Christian, has published a faith-based motivational book, and a number of poetry works intended for both younger and older readers. Some of her poetry books come with CDs.
The author who is originally from Kasane but now resides in Borolong near the city of Francistown further told Showbiz that she has won a poetry award with a French organisation. She also said she has been published in the World International Poetry and under the 24 International and World Contributors in Poetry. Following a bit of success internationally, she self-published a book titled Motswako at the age of 17. Quizzed on what motivated her to go the self-publishing route in this dog-eat-dog industry, the young writer said while it was expensive and taxing, it was worth it.
“It is very expensive to self publish but with experience working in a publishing company for two years, one can find ways of cutting costs. You get to know the rates and bates in the industry and easily self-publish,” said the author who has an advanced diploma in business skills from ABM University College.
The poet said that she draws inspiration from the silence that sometimes surrounds her.
