Speaking in an interview with Showbiz, Setholapula said after realising that the current fashion market does not cater for youthful Christians who love fashionable and trendy items, he felt obliged to bridge the gap.
“One day, I was chatting with my Christian peers and we were complaining about how the mainstream fashion market did not cater for Christians. After a thoughtful and prayerful night, I came up with the concept of ‘Pray without ceasing’ range,” said Setholapula who hails from Maalaoso ward in Pilikwe.
He said that he believes that there are many young Christians who are fashionable adding that his range certainly targets such.
Through his newly registered company, Theo Wear Pro and Printing and Taylor, the young entrepreneur has already printed a new range of T-shirts.
He said that although the concept is primarily Christian, his target market is diverse and it includes even non-Christians.
“My main aim is to create a platform for me to preach the message of Christ through messages I print on the T-shirts. My primary target will be non-believers although I know that Christians are simply going to love them,” said the 22-year-old Botho University student.
He further said that he is going to make sure that the T-shirts will be trendy enough to appeal to the secular market.
Setholapula said that due to financial constraints, he has released a range with verses only so that he could raise enough funds for trendier versions.
He said that although the range is inspired by the Bible verse that says, ‘Pray without ceasing’, he is going to infuse many other popular ones.
Setholapula said that he is currently working on producing a range which will not have verses only but pictures too.
He pointed out that he has been marketing his range by word of mouth, explaining that the reception is encouraging.
“My Christian brothers and sisters in the Lord have been buying my T-shirts in large numbers and I hope that they will continue doing so. sxI hope I will be able to make a long lasting impression among both Christians and non-believers,” Setholapula said, who is studying Network Engineering.
He further said that soon he is going to approach leading retailers and try to convince them to sell his range.
