The 35-year-old rapper told Showbiz that he has returned  to lead the pack once again.

“I am dropping an album in October this year and it’s gonna seal my place at the top,” Buckshot said.

When the artist burst into the music scene in the late ‘90s, he gave his contemporaries a run for their money. The star collaborated with leading rap artists of the day and there was no doubt he was celebrated amongst his peers.

Buckshot also worked with the likes of DJ Bunz and BK Proctor. He took part in mixtapes for P-Side and All-Kasi, which most certainly made him a name to reckon with.

The talented artist thought he was headed for greater things when he signed with a record company based in Broadhurst.  He was supposed to release an album between 2008 and 2009.

“I had really thought that releasing my debut album would help boost my career, but then because of business politics at the time, the project was shelved,” Buckshot said, adding that when the project failed, he decided to take a break from the music industry.

With the absence of Buckshot, names such as Game ‘Zeus’ Bantsi and Thato ‘Scar’ Mathabaphiri dominated the hip hop scene and the talented Buckshot had to watch from the sidelines.

The disappointed star then joined the business industry which forced him to shuttle between the cities of Gaborone and Francistown working as an IT specialist.

Needless to say, business kept him busy and soon his music career was in shambles.  It was only two years back that he started to slowly return to the music scene.

At first, he featured in some hip hop shows as a supporting act, but he has started recording and working on collaborations with his peers. “I want Batswana to know that I am now back and I have come to reclaim my spot at the top,” he said, adding that his forthcoming album will contain 14 tracks.

Buckshot further revealed that he is signed with Dagee Records and the US-based studio boss and producer Godwill ‘Dagizus’ Daniel described the artist as a sleeping giant.

“We at Dagee Records have now unleashed the sleeping monster in Buckshot and soon he is going to be a force to reckon with in Botswana’s hip hop scene,” Dagizus said.

He added that he believes his signee is the future of the country’s hip hop.
