The BSFT was established in 2001 with the mandate of raising funds for sports.
The fund has however been dormant until its mandate was revised two years ago. Speaking at the launch, BNSC chairperson Solly Reikeletseng said they revived the fund in 2012.
He told the launch that a deeds of trust was started and is undergoing formal registration process. A business plan will be developed and a new logo designed.
A five-year strategic plan has also been drawn for the trust.
“We are happy about the achievements thus far,” Reikeletseng said.
Among the key initiatives following the launch is the assembling of the secretariat that will take care of the day-to-day running of the trust activities.
The trust that is chaired by Director of Sports and Recreation (DSR) Falcon Sedimo, also has Botswana National Olympics Committee (BNOC) chairperson, Negroes Kgosietsile, BNSC treasurer Boitshoko Tsiane, BNSC acting chief executive officer Thato Kgosimore and Abe Mbaakanyi representing the business community. Other members are Ishmael Serwadi, Pearl Dijeng Lebatha and Dorothy Tlagae who represent BNSC affiliates.
