Maposa is still in the country awaiting his police clearance after which he will travel to the team’s Ga-rankuwa base, a township 37 kilometres north of Pretoria.
The police clearance, according to the player, is likely to be ready by tomorrow, but he will only leave on Sunday as his new team will be away to newly promoted Cape Town Hotspurs on Friday.
United’s general manager, George Shakes Mogomotsi would not divulge much information on the deal, but confirmed the player has joined them.
“We do expect Noah Maposa here, but I will have to speak to someone who has been handling his transfer before I can talk to you. Perhaps you could call me tomorrow (today) so I can give you full details,” Mogomotsi told Mmegi Sport.
United has been negotiation with GU for Maposa’s services since June. Maposa was identified by United’s coach, Lesley Notsi during last year’s COSAFA Cup played in Zambia. At the time, Notsi was Lesotho’s head coach before moving to United.
The 29-year-old Maposa is not new to South African football, as he has previously had a spell with Bay United when they were still coached by compatriot, David Bright.
Maposa started for Botswana at U-23 level and has several caps with the senior side. His experience could be vital for United FC as they vie for promotion to the PSL next season.
