Patlakwe garnered 13 votes, while Moroka only managed to get six votes. In his speech, Patlakwe said the starting point would be to place the interests of the boxers at heart.
“We also need to improve the quality of our tournaments,” he said. Patlakwe, a medical doctor, has experience working with boxing organisations in the United States.
In the vice presidency position, Tabona Phalazi beat Gilbert Khunwane after garnering 12 votes to seven of Khunwane. In the past there were two vice presidency positions (technical and administration).
The positions were combined into one post this year. Irene Ntelamo was voted the secretary general, beating Willoughby Kemoen and Dirang Thipe.
Ntelamo got 10 votes, while Thipe got eight. Kemoen received one vote. Phetogo Tsheko beat off Johannes Ditlhabang for the competitions manager position. Kenny Maragana is the spokesperson of the association after beating Mmaotho Segotso.
Meanwhile Moroka apologised to the affiliates for the delay in holding the annual general meeting. He said the delay was unavoidable since they had to do things in accordance with the law.
The meeting was initially scheduled for February this year, but was suspended due to the fact that a new constitution was to be released by the Registrar of Societies.
It was then rescheduled to July but did not materialse once again as they had to refer the constitution to the International Boxing Association (AIBA) for their approval. Moroka said AIBA has since raised some issues with the new constitution especially with respect to the correspondences to member countries.
“Thankfully AIBA has allowed us to proceed with this meeting in accordance with the new constitution, subject to the new committee progressing the issues they raised with the constitution,” he said.
