Ringo Hasn�t Lost His Touch

Performing in front of a full house at the Botswanacraft, Ringo shared the stage with locals Shanti Lo, Nnunu Ramogotsi and Kearoma Rantao.

Held with the intent of raising funds for its social club, the event was already filled to capacity by 8 pm, indicative of  the ever increasing popuarity of such jazz events that are flocked by enthusiasts.

The opening acts that serenaded the crowd at the sold-out show were Shanti Lo, Rantao and Nnunu who each performed their hit singles before their joint performances, under the name Afro-Jazz Trio.

They left a long lasting impression on jazz lovers that night. The show was their first performance as the Afro-Jazz Trio, in preparation for their upcoming tour in Sweden and Germany. 

Although he took some time to appear on stage, Ringo’s followers did not give up on him.  His hour-long performance had attendants eating out of the palm of his hand. Both men and women sang along to his hit songs that have won him numerous awards over the years.

The vocalist serenaded the crowd with some of his popular songsfrom his second album, Sondelani that was released late 1997.

The album achieved double platinum status and set Ringo’s staus as a sought-after act on the performing circuit in Africa.

Having started off his singing career in 1986, the Cape Town born man won his first accolade at the Shell Road to Fame contest with friend and fellow band member Peto.

Ringo has gone on to achieve great things in his career, and he has won the hearts of many.

On Friday, the Sondela singer graced the stage at around 10:30 pm soon after Rantao’s performance.

Local group Team Distant closed the night with a more up-beat sound.  The group performed several  songs including,  Kavengoma.

Familiar faces spotted at the event enjoying the music were Botswana Congress Party president and first lady, Dumelang and Dineo Saleshando, and Botsalo Ntuano of the Botswana Democratic Party.
