BWSelfie Party to raise funds for baby Tshego

The event will give patrons an opportunity to see their ‘selfies’ on the big screen, where on Facebook people use the word to describe pictures taken by the self. “This will be a fun day where people will be given a chance to enjoy the popular selfie idea while at the same time enjoying music from various local DJs,” event organiser, Thabang Kwapa, told Showbiz.
Botswana’s top DJs scheduled to perform at the event include Boogie Sid, La-Timmy, Izzy, Ricky Lamar, Phou Boy, T-Man, NT-base and Khenzo.
DJs Capital, The Josh and Speedsta from South Africa will also feature at the event.
Proceeds from the event will be used to build a house for baby Tshego and her grandmother.
The toddler lost her mother shortly after birth and now lives with her granny in a dilapidated house in Mochudi.
“Their situation is touching. But we believe we can make a difference. BWSelfie Party is not about making profit it is about celebrating the self and giving back to the community. We hope to get the necessary support in terms of sponsorship and the number of people coming for the event so that we start helping them straight away,” Kwapa said.
He noted that any other help from members of the public would be welcome. Three companies Symphony Health, Computicket, and Dialogue Saatchi & Saatchi have joined Kwapa’s organisation, Dysis Graphy, in sponsoring the event.
Kwapa added that all the DJs scheduled to perform for the event have committed to playing for free.
