“Serowe Pop Bottles is an annual festival that is meant to attract fun lovers from all over the central district and show them that they can have clean fun.
We cater for people from all walks of lives and different age brackets,” he explained. Ratshosa said the organisers had decided to bring the event, which debuted successfully last year, had realised that there is need to resurrect the entertainment scene in Serowe, hence the Pop Bottles concept.
He also said only artists from Serowe would showcase their talent on the night.
Local DJs who include Kabelo ‘DJ King’ Motlhanka and DJ Quinty are among those who are expected to spin the decks and get the crowds dancing well into the night.
“One of our objectives is to promote artists from Serowe. During the day we will only showcase locally brewed talent only. We cannot afford to stage a show in Serowe, but not promote our own talent,” Ratshosa explained.
The organisers have decided not to invite foreign acts since they are convinced that there are enough talented acts locally.
“For the evening show, we have the likes of Ozi F. Teddy, ATI, Phouboy and myself. The performances will go on until late,” he said, adding that more artists would be added if need be.
Ratshosa added that there would also be portable swimming pools and a volleyball tournament to rev up the fun and excitement.
“We are going to have an impressive stage and good sound system so that we impress our revellers,” Ratshosa said.
Budding artist cum entrepreneur, Ratshosa, further said Pop Bottles merchandise such as t-shirts, water bottles, car key-holder and flat caps would be sold at the event.
However, the show isn’t only about fun and music. The organisers intend to give back to society. “We intend to spend time at Serowe SOS where we are going to entertain orphans at the centre for free and shower them with gifts,” he said.
Serowe Pop Bottles is organised by James ‘Double Jay’ Ratshosa, Atlasaone ‘ATI’ Molemogi, Modiredi Keitshokile and Anthony Phokoletso. The organisers would like to see the event becomes a permanent feature on Serowe’s entertainment calendar.
