Womens Football League goes into recess

Many had written them out after their slow start to the season. Township Rollers are second on the league table with 20 points from seven games. With two games in hand, Rollers look set to give the defending champions a run for their money when the league continues in February next year.

Prisons XI are sitting at position three with 19 points from nine games while The Meat Girls from Lobatse occupy position four with 17 points. They have played seven games just like Rollers. Other League giants, UB Kicks are sitting in position eight. They have collected 11 points from seven games played, while Vico Mates are languishing at the bottom of the log standings. They have accumulated just one point from nine games.

This league is yet to find a sponsor following the end of a contract between the league and AT&T Monnakgotla. UB Kicks team manager, Phenyo Gabolekane said even without a sponsor, the league has been competitive and entertaining this season. “We might have no sponsor, but our teams are taking this league seriously. There are no easy games,” he said.
