Even idiots know the art of revenge

The hype may be due to the fact that the movie has maintained its star-studded cast  with the likes of Golden Globe award winning actor Jason Bateman who still plays Nick Hendricks and is one of the three main characters.

The trio of dumb but optimistic friends is made up of Nick, Kurt and Dale.

As suggested by his trademark, Bateman enjoys playing characters who always carry above their weight and end up caught in tricky situations.

Co-starring alongside Bateman and the gang is another award winner, Chris Pine, who portrays Rex Hanson, the rich spoilt son of their villain who wants everything to himself.  It is the first time this Hollywood top shot plays a bad boy; he is usually the protagonist like  in films such as Jack Ryan’s Shadow Recruit as well as This Means War released in 2014 and 2012 respectively.

It even has special appearances by Jamie Fox alongside Christoph Waltz. The best is always saved for last, completing the appealing cast adding that cherry on top is the queen of comedy herself Jennifer Aniston starring as Dr Julia Harrisand.  Bringing that craziness, Aniston made her mark by making it big with the 1994 sitcom Friends, which used to air on Btv.

That propelled her to be one of the highest paid actresses at some point and landed her roles in movies like We’re The Millers before this one. Now looking at the brains behind this family comedy; it was directed and written by Sean Anders and John Morris the same pair who wrote the 2013 comedy We’re The Millers.

This explains why the movie is on point, in terms of humour and chemistry.

In this sequel, the trio is fed up with answering to higher-ups.  Nick, Dale and Kurt decide to become their own bosses by launching their own shower merchandise business.

But then a slick investor deceives them. Being outplayed and desperate, and with no legal recourse, the dumb optimistic entrepreneurs then hatch a misguided plan to kidnap the investor’s son as payback, however, things don’t go as planned.

This interesting storyline is the root of all the mayhem as it dished out exhilarating moments of madness.  Firstly when watching this comedy you laugh from start to finish because there is way too much stupidity going on that leaves one in stitches.

Worth noting, things that bring out the humour is also the fact that the three buddies do not listen first, they rather rush to all speak at the same time.

Horrible Bosses 2 is definitly more funny: just the way it opens with Nick, Kurt and Dale arguing on a live broadcast television commercial, screaming instead of advertising the shower product.

This comedy is also made fresh and vibrant by the latest hot music that plays as a soundtrack, complementing very well the silliness of Nick, Kurt and Dale. Songs such as Can’t Hold Us by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Notorious BIG’s Hypnotise as well as Rick Ross’ Everyday I’m Hustling.

The visual and sound in Horrible Bosses 2 makes it flashy and captivating without any dull moments.

The other excellent thing about this film is the way it keeps one on the edge of the seat with nail-biting interesting twists, making Horrible Bosses 2 unpredictable.

The acting by the cast met expectations and delivered the hilarity in style.

The movie is also accommodating in the sense that even if you missed the initial Horrible Bosses, in this latest instalment it has no loopholes you follow exactly what is going on. However, it remains to be seen how this comedy will survive the box office heat with the hotly anticipated release of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies premiering this Friday.

A look at the box office Horrible Bosses 2 is enjoying a positive reception as it premiered at number five on the charts before gradually climbing to the third spot last weekend making it one of the top five hot movies currently on circuit.

However the movie is turning out to be a victim of its own (Horrible Bosses 1) success as revenue wise it has not generated enough as yet.

It pocketed opening weekend sales of US$15.4 million and to date has grossed just around $35 million, which is bad considering that its predecessor enjoyed an opening weekend sales of $28 million and went on to amass a whooping $117.5 million dollars in overall revenue.

Judging by other recent comedies like Alexander and the Terrible and Let’s Be Cops that received premiere weekend accumulations of $18.3 million and $17.8 million, Horrible Bosses 2 seems to be not far off and with due course will catch steam.

Apart from that it is normal for sequels to perform this way as even the recent Hunger Games MockingJay Part 1 at first was a shadow of Hunger Games Catching Fire.

Therefore, we shall rate this movie with the colossal fulfilled viewing experience it provides in cinema, it is way too hilarious and deserving of a 9/10 score rating. It is wise to give credit where it is due and this comedy leaves everlasting joy.
