Makwakwa shine at the BOMU�s

 

Motswaledi, who died in a freak accident which caused media frenzy in July , was also one of  the founding members of the KTM choir.

For the Legendary (present) award it was Alfredo Mos who scooped the award.

Notably, this year fewer people turned to the show, although the VIP section was full, the normal section had less than 20 people.

On a lighter side, there can be no award ceremony without the glitz and glamour, as is expected the Gaborone who’s’ and who’s’ were spotted by Monitor Showtime at the event. But it was local Poet, Berry Heart who set tongues rolling with her outrageous  outfit.

Berry Heart appeared  in a white gown, that split at her waist leaving nothing to the imagination was the hottest  dressed for the night, followed by RB2 presenter Gaona Thasana who was also dressed up for the occasion. Most of the men were all suited up for the awards without any major fashion statements.

 

The winners

Wnning four awards was Dj Oats of House University who walked away with Best Dance, best packaged album, best album of the year as well as best Dj award.

For the ladies it was the self proclaimed finest lady of jazz, Nono Siile who walked away with the best Female and Jazz album. She also performed an electric performance which had patrons on their feet.

Traditional Dance Troupe Makwakwa ran away with the song of the year gong for their song, Kgarebe(tsholetsa makgabe) and the best group award, while Maghebula got the best traditional dance award for his album, Ga go sa ragwa ka lenao. Others include;

Best male artist  Vee Mampeezy. Best Music video; Lenyalo by Tefo Phiri.

Best Hip Hop Motswako album: Kast with King. Best House Kwasa album: Vee Mampeezy with Supernatural Vol2. Best Kwaito album: Verse2 by Curldyes

Best contemporary gospel album; Dimpho Kegakilwe with Kanana.

Best traditional gospel album; Thuso Tiego with Difela tse Some.

Best Kwasa album; Tumza with Tanki ya Motswana.

Best Afro pop album: Botswana by Kalahari.

Best music producer: Suffocate.

Best Raggae/Reggae album: Tich with Thando Lwam

Best  R&B; Spiza with Valentino

Best polka; Die Antwood by Reharko

Best disco album: Sespo
