Dinnah, the stunning model-cum-accountant

Showbiz took some time out with the beautiful 22-year-old who gave a glimpse into her tight schedule and how she manages to balance the two demanding careers.

“When growing up, my mother’s friends used to gush over me and tell me that I was destined to become a model because I had the right attributes for the job.

That stuck on my mind and when I moved to Gaborone for my tertiary education, I started modelling professionally,” Mshimwe said.

Mshimwe who hails from the tourist town of Kasane said that although she spent most of her formative years in the towns of Selebi-Phikwe and Francistown, she never found an opportunity to pursue her dream of becoming a model.

However, Lady Luck would smile on her in 2010 when she moved to Gaborone where she met Queen Kolobe, the managing director of Madam Queen Modelling Agency who would help shape her career.

“The agency gave me an opportunity to showcase my talent and created many platforms for me,” she said.

Mshimwe added that she has been able to feature in many leading newspapers and magazines in the country.

Mshimwe has also walked the ramp in a good number of high profile fashion shows in Botswana including the government sponsored annual Independence and President’s Day fashion shows.

The young model has also walked the ramp in big malls such as Riverwalk, Game City and Airport Junction.

“The highlight of my career so far was auditioning for and taking part in the Soweto Fashion Week in South Africa, which is an international event.  I am happy that I have also been invited to attend the fashion show again,” she said.

She revealed that her agent in South Africa helps organise gigs for her in the country.

She is hopeful her second appearance at the Soweto Fashion Week will open doors to more international gigs soon.

Although she has now parted ways with Madam Queen Modelling Agencyk, Mshimwe noted that she continues to get more opportunities.

The former Botswana Accountancy College (BAC) student told Showbiz that being a career woman and a model demands a lot of her time, but does not mind the extra work hours because she loves both careers.

“I have employers who are very supportive and whenever I have to take part in an important gig, they always give me leave days.

I always make sure that I outdo myself when I get a chance because I am aware of the fact that my fulltime job is demanding,” said Mshimwe.

“I love both my careers equally and it is nice to be able to unwind with modelling after a day of hard work at the office,” said the model.
