Twaza gives gospel a house touch

It thus comes as no surprise that the youngster has released a gospel album with a touch of house music.

Characterised by heavy drumming synonymous with house music, Twaza’s album mixes words of praise with superb dance tunes that should have young worshipers sweating it out on a Sunday morning.

The youngster from Majwaneng lists South Africa’s Bojo Muju as one of those he idolises.

Therefore, it is no surprise that track number three in his album Lorato La Jeso has some similarities to the famed producer’s own music.

However, the party starts as you press the play button, which lets out the track, Bana Ba Ntate.

This is a fun-filled song with some inspiring words of wisdom cushioned by tantalising lead guitar.

The youngster was once a promising young football player, but an ankle injury ended his soccer dream.

“I used to be coached by then national team coach, Jelusic Veselin.  I was playing for the under 15s, but he would often drill us whenever he had some breaks.

I wanted to make a career out of soccer, but I guess God had other plans,” he said.

Because he has always sung at church and school when his soccer ambitions were cut short he shifted his focus to his other talent.

“I have always been commended for my singing skills at school and at church,” he said.

While he acknowledged that making it big in music might be even more difficult than tackling moves on a soccer pitch, Twaza is adamant to give it his best.

What gives him the ultimate satisfaction is the fact that his type of music gives him the chance to freely worship the creator.
