Motlakase sign international players

Motlakase chairman, Mangisi Segadimo confirmed the signing of Zimbabwean William Kupera, formerly with Orapa United, a Zambian national and ex-Township Rollers player, Gifter Gumele and a Ugandan national, Umar Ngoni.

“All our signings are international strikers that we believe could boost our attack. The reason we did that is because we have a major weakness in our attack and we believe these players will make a difference,” said Segadimo.

He said that though locally they signed players from small teams, they believe they are players with great potential.

Since the transfer window opened, Chouka, as Motlakase is affectionately known, has now signed five players including Pilikwe United duo.

Meanwhile, Segadimo told Mmegi Sport that the loss of their goalkeeper would not affect the team anyhow.

He said that Rankabekwa was not that exceptional as compared to reserve keepers whom he said were equally capable.

“We could be crying if we had lost an exceptional goalkeeper like Noah Maposa, but our former goalkeeper and his reserves were equally capable.

“The difference was only that Rankabekwa had more experience because he played several games in the premier league,” said Segadimo.

He further gave an example of their Saturday game which they whipped Letlapeng 3-0. He said that they used their goalie Daniel Kedidimetse and after he sustained a head injury on the 65th minute, he was substituted by a newly signed goalie and they both performed brilliantly well.

Segadimo claimed that although the game was unfair on their part, as seemingly the referee picked sides, the boys ignored the unjust treatments and played well.

Itumeleng Mabuaeme scored the first goal, followed by Lapologang Motlogi and Joseph Nkgoeng put the game to bed with a third strike as Ramotswa side left empty-handed.

“Our goalie got a serious head injury but the referee ignored him and didn’t stop the match until after two minutes of play and our coach Dominic Changwe did not hesitate to protest on the decision of the referee.

He (coach) was shown a red card for complaining about the player’s injury. Every decision at the match was against us,” said Segadimo.

As for their coming game with Nico United, Segadimo promised Chouka supporters that they will carry where they left off and will not disappoint.

“We owe Nico; we beat them in the referees’ additional time in our last encounter in their backyard in Selebi-Phikwe so they will come like a wounded lion.

“We are well aware the game won’t be just a walk in the park as they will want to use this game as payback time.  We are going to approach this game well prepared,” said Segadimo.
