Dreams Botswana enters publishing fray

Co-owner and managing editor of Dreams Botswana, Charmaine Revaka-Muir, said she and her partner Olivia Britz saw a need to start a lifestyle magazine because of their passion for writing.  The two women decided to do market research, which showed that Batswana long for a local lifestyle magazine.

“We started thinking and talking about a lifestyle magazine over 10 years ago and in 2014 we conducted some market research to establish whether there is room for an up-market lifestyle magazine in Botswana. We got very interesting results and certainly some valuable pointers with regard to what people are looking for,” she said.

Revaka-Muir said they want to assure the readers and advertisers that they will always strive to ensure that the magazine adheres to high quality standards.

Dreams Botswana is a family lifestyle magazine, which features amongst others human-interest stories, Botswana’s Untold Stories, Arts and Culture, Travel Within Botswana, Health and Beauty sections.

It celebrates Batswana‘s achievements and heritage. The magazine also features legends and ordinary people, whose life stories can inspire.  The magazine targets individuals who can be role models to other people.

The second edition of Dreams Botswana featured the winner of Miss World Supermodel 2014, Nature Inger and an ordinary Motswana woman, Judith Raseokamo, affectionately known as Mma Dimpho.

Mma Dimpho started a small business by Gaborone Senior Secondary School gate selling a variety of sweets and refreshments.  The woman with an inspiring story was able to purchase a new Audi car, with profits from her small business.  Moreover she was able to send her two young children to private schools.

The next Dreams Botswana issue is expected to hit the shelves on April 1, 2015 in over 60 stores in 14 towns and villages throughout the country.
