SA�s Maponyane shocked by �stripping� incident

Maponyane, who was in the country for a Valentine’s Day event dubbed ‘Redds Singles Night Out’ as a club guest, expressed his ‘concern’ over the choice of fashion statement by the women. He described the scenario as an attempt ‘to grab attention’ on Tuesday through Twitter.
“When I was in Botswana over the weekend there were things people did to stand out, but this I will struggle to forget,” Maponyane tweeted referring to the pictures that went on social media accompanied by a Jacob Zuma meme. He ended his Botswana experience with a “gore o pecheditseng matswele ahaaye? That I will never understand. I blame a Amber Rose though” [sic]. The model-cum-TV presenter is the son of famous Bafana Bafana legend, Marks Maponyane. The well-attended event was going ‘according to plan’ with Maponyane taking pictures and mingling with the crowd until the two women turned up.
The club, which prides itself in providing high echelon lifestyle entertainment, was almost at a stand still when the women decided to treat revellers to five minutes of unique dance moves. The women, who left nothing to the imagination with their fashion statements, go by the names Xandra Phuthego and Toyi-Toyi Nthobatsang on Facebook.
The stunt caused a social media frenzy this week. Showbiz caught up with the club manager, Monty Robert, who confirmed the incident. He told Showbiz that the women initially turned up at the club covered up.
“I was told by the bouncers that they were all covered up when they initially turned up. All of a sudden they got up on stage and took off their tops,” he said.
Robert further said that, “the other woman then went for the couch and started stripping. I then walked up to her to tell her to stop what she was doing as it was not acceptable. She did not barge. That is when I called the bouncers to escort her out. They have done this before at another local club. I know this for sure because I was working there when they pulled the same stunt and were also chased out then”.
The club posted on its social media page in response to the incident: “…’Stripper Incident on the 14th February 2015’ we herein wish to condemn with utmost disgust that one individual performed moves of a stripper on the above mentioned date. It is not our principle or ethics of our operations to sponsor such behaviour. The individual did that at her own accord and our security moved swiftly to remove her from the lounge. Such incidents are isolated. Nonetheless they concern us. We have since banned the individual from our operations and any other related businesses. We apologise to our patrons for this eventuality.”
The two women did not respond to questions from Showbiz, regarding the incident.
