Code names, spies, missions plus action equal Kingsman

Kingsmen: The Secret Service brings something different in the form of hot action.
Kingsman: The Secret Service is a 2014 spy action comedy film adapted from the comic book The Secret Service, authored by Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar. The film is delightful to watch, as it is action-packed, with some fierce never-been-seen-before screen villains.
In addition, Kingsman features Hollywood’s big shot actors such as Oscar Award-winning Collin Firth as the Kingsman agency recruiter (Harry Hart), with Taron Egerton playing Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin, a young aspiring secret agent whilst Samuel L Jackson plays the menacing billionaire villain who seeks to reduce earth’s population with a device.
Matthew Vaughn, who is well known for directing movies adapted from comic books, directed this movie. He directed amongst others marvel comics franchise X-Men: First Class (2011). Kingsman The Secret Service is a thrill for movie enthusiasts simply because espionage film releases do not come as often as compared to other genres. The film is also made special by a fascinating plot.
Kingsman: The Secret Service tells the story of a super-secret spy organisation, which recruits an unrefined, but promising street kid into the agency’s ultra-competitive training programme just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius.
Kingsman looks vibrant due to great cinematography. When watching this British film you get a reminiscent feeling of other good spy films like Salt, James Bond and Mission Impossible with this one having that extra edge due to some new elements.
The new elements include the ruthless nature of the villains. Director Matthew Vaughn went all out and gave us a character that has never been seen before in tech genius Richmond Valentine’s most trusted warrior Gazelle (Sofia Boutella), an assassin with bladed prosthetic legs.
The role is said to be inspired by South African blade runner, Oscar Pistorious in 2012. The character is one of the movie’s highlights as she decimates everything in her path, with Taekwando and Thai boxing.
This is very exhilarating because the character wears prosthetic blade legs. The big moment for Gazelle is when she wipes out an entire group of men in seconds during a hostage situation of a high profile target in Argentina. Super spy secret agents also play a part in making the movie interesting.
Unlike most espionage films Kingsman The Secret Service has a bit of humour to it, which comes from Samuel L Jackson’s (Richmond Valentine) role of a villain with physical disorder.
This was a new treat for most of us who are used to Samuel L Jackson’s saint character role as General Nick Fury in several Marvel comics films such as Captain America and the Upcoming Avengers Age of Ultron.
What also sets Kingsman apart from others is the manner in which gentlemen, spies and Kingsmen are defined, who are considered to be latter-day modern-times equivalents of the Knights of the Round Table from Arthurian legend.
Lastly what also makes this film scintillating is the arsenal for weapon firepower and other gadgets. Gadgets and weapons featured in the film include exploding silicon microchips, remote-activated poison pens, double barrelled hand-pistols, bullet-proof designer-fashion suits, a 50,000 volt electrified sovereign ring, augmented virtual reality spectacles, a bullet proof AR targeting system ammunition-firing black designer umbrella, super-spy smart watches, which can fire sleep darts and magnetised bolas, artificial razor-blade sharp silver-metal legs of female acrobat Gazelle, and shoes with poisoned neurotoxin pop-out blades.
Notable scenes include when Taron Egerton (Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin) and Collin Firth disposed their knife and gun armed nemises with the aid of their special Tuxedo suit and umbrellas. As for the box office reception, Kingsman: The Secret Service is doing well. The blockbuster is at second spot on the box office chart. It has managed to gross a staggering worldwide figure of $155.8 million, which include US sales of $69.3 and foreign revenue of $86.4 million dollars.

Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014) was just a kickstart for more spectacular spy movie action releases coming up later this year, which include Spy (May 2015), Spectre (November 2015), Mission: Impossible 5 (December 2015) and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (August 2015). For its fresh stunts and viewing experience it is fitting to award Kingsman: The Secret Service with a crushing 8/10.
