It was one of those rare occasions when he performed at Trekers Club in Mogoditshane on Saturday night where patrons were thrown into boisterous festivities the moment he took to stage.

It looked like only a handful would turn up for the event as only a few people had arrived after 11 pm but after midnight cars flooded into the two main parking areas.

When the veteran DJ cum house music producer came out of the guest lounge onto the stage fans could not stop screaming. It was clear they did not care much about what he would offer, but were just excited to see their favourite man spin the discs and twist back and forth the mixing table’s sound control buttons.

The Stay Real hit maker did not disappoint as he concocted a good mixture of old tracks and modern tracks to lighten up the night. The Makaleng born DJ’s show was completed by an exciting day, which also saw scores of people throng the National Stadium for the CAF game between Kaizer Chiefs and Township Rollers. A good number of visiting South Africans wined down their day at the popular DJ’s event as GP and NW registration numbers could be spotted among the jalopies.

DJ Fresh started out in radio in Botswana in the early nineties. He subsequently dropped his law studies and pursued radio fulltime, joining YFM in 1997. He was quickly snapped up by 5FM in 2006 where the Fresh Drive has since become a 5FM institution as well as one of the station’s most popular shows.

In the process he built a legacy as one of the best house music producers and club DJs of modern times.
