The setup was cosy with vibrant décor, stalls and the piazza filled the space with some mouth-watering flavours. There was a lot of chatter as people raved about the food and wines on display.

Different suppliers were given a platform to showcase their products and people had the chance to burst their taste buds at a cost of P100 a ticket.  That gave them 10 tokens to use at various stalls. The refreshing ambiance gave consumers a good start to the weekend.

Companies that showcased their products included Benji distributors with Jameson whisky, Score energy drink, Four Cousins and Fat Bastard wines and Absolut Vodka to mention a few.

The staff at Benji stall created a tasty drink for the consumers with a mixture of Jameson and Ginger ale. Lengau Wine Company brought their delicious Strawberry lips liquor, new beers called Steph Weiss, Bern Stein, Brewers and Union and Beast of the Deep as well as Douglas Green wines and others.

A long queue formed at the Bidvest Foodservice stall where deep-fried scrumptious seafood platters and delicious desserts were the major attractions. The desserts included strawberry and lemon cheesecake, black forest and granadilla cake.  One talented woman, Bonolo Merciah Moletsane showcased her flower bouquets, which have Belgian and Ferrero Rocher chocolates in the middle.

Her company Chocolate Lovers captivated a lot of people as they admired her creativity with flowers and chocolates.

The newly opened Mexican Restaurant at Riverwalk, Johnny Jalapenos also showcased their stuff.  Jalapenos served people with mouth-watering tacos and margarita cocktails.

Gourmet Grill also had a stall where they served finger foods such as wings, kebabs and mini pizzas. Lansmore Hotel chef, Sean van Rensburg and his colleagues had a braai stall with steaks, boerwors and chicken as well as pap and salads.

According to Gourmet Grill owner, Mark Coetzer, the food and wine show was a response to customer demands.  Coetzer also said  ‘‘This was a social event, which wasn’t profit based and I am happy that it was a success.”
