“I am determined to conquer not just the Botswana music scene, but the world as well.
“I believe this is going to be achieved because I manage artists who are versatile and do all genres, which makes our music of international standard,” said 23-year-old Maruping, a holder of BSc in Agriculture.
The youthful manager further said that although she had no educational background in music, she has undertaken to study management courses to help her to prepare herself for her new role at the recording which has got branches in Mahalapye and Francistown.
“From the few days I have been working with Dagee Records, I cannot complain because I have already met with some of the artists that I am working with.
“All of these artists seem to be serious about their careers and this motivated me to work even harder to bring together the people and spearhead our projects.
“Being in artist management requires drive, determination and a passion for music. My ambition is to be an effective manager with a good understanding of the music industry,” said Maruping.
She further said that her new job entailed coordinating all aspects of business and liaising with with events promoters, publicity agents and media houses on behalf of the company.
Maruping said she expected good things for the studio this year because they are going to release two albums by Shatiso ‘Buckshot’ Thangwane and Moeteledi ‘Focus’ Totego who were already established artists before joining the label.
“The people out there should look out for new singles from our artists, Dagee, DJ Missy, DJ Ottomic and Focus.
“We are determined to conquer the music industry this year and that’s why I have joined the winning team,” Maruping said.
Maruping said that she is confident that she has all what it takes to prove to the world that women have a role to play in an industry that is mostly dominated by men.
“I am determined to show everyone out there that women can play a leading role in the music industry and excel. “I want to encourage all women out there to stand their ground and believe that if men can do it, they can do it even better than them,” she said.
