The fashion show themed ‘Crazy and Unconditional’ will be held in the city’s hottest and classiest place, Sky Lounge in Gaborone on April 25, 2015.
The show will commence at 7pm and tickets for the event will be sold at Computicket and Liban Mediterranean Restaurant on the day of the event. Patrons will pay P300 pre–sold tickets, P350 at the door and P700 for VIP, which includes finger foods, drinks and afterparty at Sky Lounge.
In an interview with the one of the organisers, Lesedi Magowe, the main focus is creating job opportunities for underprivileged youth by focusing on models and designers and developing untapped talents. She also said they are only looking at models and designers with no experience, but with the passion and potential to grow their talent.
“This event focuses on those that have never been exposed or given such opportunities as most events usually go for the ‘big names’ in the industry. We are saying how about giving an opportunity to the less privileged, and groom and train them in the process,” she said. Magowe further said that they want to contribute in growing and showcasing Botswana’s talent beyond borders not only in Africa but also internationally. Other designers from Ghana, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Nigeria are also expected to showcase their designs.
She also added that a large number of aspiring models and designers would be modelling and showcasing their designs. The Lame, K.o.b.o Couture and DV will be among the designers who will be showcasing, while models expected to do their thing are Mphoentle, Doskie, Torquil, Shante and others.
Furthermore, Magowe said with numerous events in the bag, they hope to add Botswana to one of their success stories.
She said their development focus is to create opportunities for graduates to experience real time challenges in the industry.
“The graduates will also garner enough experience to hit the ground running once they establish careers in the industry. They will also benefit from access to an infrastructure that will virtually fulfil a mentoring function,” she said.
Moreover, Magowe urged people to come in large numbers and witness the show.
“This show is one of its kind and tapping into areas that have not yet been tapped into in Botswana and our success is everyone’s success at the end of the day,“ she said.
