A strong hunch never lies

This film is a 2015 American science fiction adventure. We know that adventure films are a genre that revolves around conquests and explorations of a protagonist relative with such purposes of conquests being either to retrieve a person, lost treasures and discovering forbidden places.
Often the main focus is simply the pursuit of the unknown. And it is no different in this one either as the storyline is like this, “Bound by a shared destiny, former boy-genius Frank Walker (Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as ‘Tomorrowland.’ What they must do there changes the world and them forever”.
Just as hinted in the plot, the movie prides itself with some enterprising cast members. Among them is ladies’ man movie star George Clooney (Frank Walker) who holds a prestigious reputation having scooped 100 career accolades including two Oscar awards and also being quite synonymous for films like Oceans’ Thirteen amongst others.
Rising star young actress Britt Robertson from (2015) romantic drama The Longest Ride is also in the mix pairing up with Frank causing a stir. No wander Tomorrowland has too much chemistry and seems to in everyone’s lips. It turns out it was orchestrated by director Brad Birds who has produced smashing animation films like The Incredibles, Ratatouille and Up respectively.
Gamecity cinemas was venue where we enjoyed all the month end fun this past weekend, and with the movie already in its second week in theatres, it still gathered reasonable numbers of attendance alongside yours truly.
This is how it unfolded, Tomorrowland: A World Beyond starts off with a meaningful narration message of dreamers and optimists, particularly with the young genius inventor Frank trying to convince then cool movie villain (Governor Nix) Hugh Laurie that his super jet packs invention works. That is before he is cast away for persistent efforts.
On the other side is an optimistic teen Casey, fuelled by scientific curiosity that there must be another alternative than shutting down a NASA launchpad her father worked for.
Looking at the two intricate lives, the film serves quite a good moral message, as only these two believed in themselves until they met each other. Before then they always found themselves in hot water for trying to pursue their dreams.
Hence Tomorrowland relates to real life in the sense that it motivates the audience to never give up their dreams, visions and optimism. It s a nice yet gripping story telling. The movie is also fascinating because it packs a bit of action, If you are an action fanatic then Tomorrowland: A world Beyond is going to serenade your taste buds a little.
One particular action moment is the discovery of Athena’s superhuman powers when she gets hit by a truck then she recovers immediately and sprints so fast to catch-up with Casey which was reminiscent to the mind blowing villain T-X robot from the Terminator-Rise Of The Machines movie.
I got to understand why the film made it to Box office number one recently as the movie is made enjoyable by the fact that it is witty. This comes after Casey, on numerous occasions, found herself in pain in the real world after having used the futuristic pin programmed with her DNA to teleport over dimensions. The movie enthusiasts in the audience were left in stitches by scenes where Casey kept on finding herself in awkward positions upon her return to the real world. It was most notably falling off the stairs in her house as well as wandering in the middle of a lake, which amused the audience.
The other good thing about this film is the adventure, mystery and cinematography part element of A World Beyond. The film generally takes place in exotic locations, a lavish city that has state-of-the-art technology as flying cars, cool swimming pools amongst others features which on the other hand correlates with the cinematography in making a unique futuristic world.
The mystery aspect of the film is also quite fascinating as there are intricate obstacles that the protagonist must overcome in order to achieve the end goal. Frank Walker’s house in the woods is packed with boobytraps, which left the viewers jaw dropped as Casey got chased by a vicious looking dog that left no trail of footprints only for her bravery to discover that in actual fact the dog is just a hologram which brought relief to everyone including yours truly. I was tricked there.
To say the least, the special effects of this movie are also not on point. And to make matters worse after that scene, Frank (George Clooney) rubs it in our faces with this quote “Can’t you just be amazed and move on?” whilst addressing Casey, though it felt as if the verbal missile was aimed at this stunned audience. In comparison to other films that share the same storytelling of crossing over time dimensions, the film is a bit similar to Harry Porter, Guardians Of The Galaxy as well as Journey 2: The Mysterious Island just to name a few.
Meanwhile this quote below summarises Tomorrowland: A World Beyond’s motivational intentions regarding the correct mindset to have.
Casey Newton: There are two wolves who are always fighting. One is darkness and despair. The other is light and hope. The question is... which wolf wins?
Eddie Newton: The one you feed.
Now turning the attention to how this movie is being received in cinemas and at box office rather shows mad love for it.
It took over box office last week, being the leading movie of the week with opening weekend revenue of $33 million dollars and to date, according to box office the film has amassed $70 million in international countries and had a grand total of $135 million by Wednesday June 3rd at the time of going to press.
And with only two weeks on circuit, this is impressive as the film looks destined to surpass its estimated $190 million dollar budget.
