The international annual event, which is celebrated in more than 120 countries, was initiated in 1982 by French minister Jack Lang. Alliance Francaise has been organising the event in Botswana for the past 12 years.
“As much as we have enjoyed our cooperation with Botswana Craft, we want to make the festival grow bigger,” said Lucie Janyk one of the event coordinators.
Molapo Piazza has recently hosted a number of big events such as I am Legend, a sold-out event which featured Don Laka and comedian Anne Kansiime.
Janyk believes that the new venue will provide a professional environment to the participants.
“We are willing to use every chance offered by this amazing place and to emphasis all forms of stage art to keep surprising our guests.”
Among those billed to perform at the event are Zeus, DJ Cupid, Tshepi Live Entertainment, Harmonic Angel, Vee and Maya Roze.
Hip hop and RnB disc jockey DJ Cupid will be performing an electro mix during the festival. Tshepi Live entertainment band will perform Pink Floyd cover songs.
Entrance is free but those interested need to produce the event flyer at the gate. The fliers can be found at all Orange outlets.
Last year La Fête de la Musique attracted a close to 4,500 fans and more than 15 artists performed including American country music ensemble, the Venture Moody band.
