Known as Leadership Botswana, the publication will publish on a quarterly basis and will focus on issues of and feature articles on leadership.
“Leadership Botswana is going to tell stories of true leadership. It is going to include exclusive interviews with chief executive officers, managing directors and any other people who are at the helm of leadership,” said Letsholo.
He also noted that the magazine will provide expert commentary on the best corporate practices in executive and organisational development, with contributions and research from top personalities. Contributors to the quarterly publication include independent researcher and writer, Chedza Mogae; human rights lawyer, Uyapo Ndadi; seasoned South African journalist, Liesl Venter; author and popular BBC broadcaster, René Carayol, finance writer, Setshwano Ngope; landscape fine art photographer, Pako Lesejane; freelance journalist Luke Manning and South African journalist, Peta Krost Maunder.
Commenting at the launch on Friday, managing director of the Botswana Development Corporation (BDC), Bashi Gaetsaloe said as a country there is a serious challenge of leadership. He stated that there is a need for leaders who move things forward.
“A leader should be able to manage contradiction. They should understand that contradiction and not try to resolve the contradiction because it will not be resolved. A leader should overcome that contradiction within,” he explained.
He noted that leaders should build institutions that work, adding that they should know how to win as ultimately leadership is all about winning. He said through Leadership Botswana, leaders can continue to provoke dialogue.
Michael Lesolle, executive director of the Botswana Accountancy College (BAC) has commended the publishers of the magazine for coming up with such a publication.
“This magazine is going to expose a lot of things about ourselves and it will defuse the cliché ‘captains of industry’ that is normally used when addressing leaders,” he said.
The first issue features articles on technology, question and answer with entrepreneur, Lesego Matlhware as well as a profile of Liberty Life CEO, Lulu Rasebotsa, among others.
The magazine will be available both online and in print. Readers can buy the magazine for P29 and about 10,000 copies will be distributed around some of the prominent resorts in the country.
