The player’s manager, Kirk Lottering told Mmegi Sport they had to raise funds through various initiatives to ensure Lottering horns his skills with one of the world’s top clubs.
“We raised P13 000 for Ocean’s trip through different campaigns such as dance diners,” he said. The young player also played a role in raising funds through juggling sessions he did. “We opted for Barcelona because Ocean and his team Gaborone Football Academy (GFA) have a playing style similar to the Spanish champions, so he will gain more experience with their type of play,” said Lottering.
He said after the Barcelona trip, Lottering would be taken to a more competitive professional set up, within or outside the country.
“Ocean is a talented left footer with remarkable skills and looking forward to making himself and the country proud. With a proper support structure, I see him becoming the next big name in football,” said. The Barcelona academy has produced a number of high profile players such as Lionel Messi and Cesc Fabregas. Since young Lottering was diagnosed with dyslexia at a young age, he fell in love with football. He went on to join his current side, GFA. With the GFA he has managed to play against South African sides such as Sundowns and Super Sport junior teams.
He was recently called for the BISA Under-18 team to compete in Sweden for the Annual Gothia World Youth Cup, but he did not attend the camp due to other commitments.
He represented the country in the Under-15 team during the Africa Youth Games (AYG) last year.
