BCL�s Selebi Shaft back in operation

The operations resumed on Monday where a prayer session was held at the shaft in remembrance of the three employees and also to pray for improved service across the mine.
Several pastors from different local churches attended the session to pray and give motivational talks to the employees.
The employees were advised to ensure that risk assessment is always conducted before they resume work and to refuse to go into risky work areas as this is within their rights.
“We are here today because you as employees and BCL Mine are very important stakeholders in this town. In fact, the town is what it is now because of you. However, you need God for guidance and protection in your daily operations. Each one of you has the responsibility to protect his life,” said Pastor Moleboge.
Selebi Shaft manager, Boikaego Mokubung said they are still in mourning of the loss hence the necessity of the prayer session to remember the employees.
“However, let us continue to work safely and adhere to all safety rules to prevent accidents,” he added.
The three employees lost their lives in a fall of ground incident, while working at 835 level stope on Saturday, whereupon the BCL rescue team started work immediately to search for the missing persons.
The shaft was then closed as investigations led by the Inspector of Mines to establish the cause of the accident continued.
