Layara Marks
The upcoming rapper has an underground rap influence, which makes her more of an intellectual lyricist. Her rap focuses on social commentary of the state and other related issues. She is a regular face at open mic sessions such as Motswrapoetry and other Hip Hop sessions. Layara Marks has two tracks, Antidote and Freedom Fighters, at the moment. At her live performances she carries a juice bottle and a backpack. She prefers to be called the Daughter of God.
Danielle Swagger
This is one femcee who likes taking challenges and trying out new things time and again, although she focuses much on trap rap. Danielle Swagger is an all in one rapper who is versatile. She has gangster rap and kwaito tracks under her belt. She co-owns a record label, Black Mail. ent with her brother, Special T Boy.
She has worked with the likes of Qbio and Samba T. Danielle Swagger is currently promoting her latest single, Sheba Gusheshe. Apart from rapping she is also a Hip Hop blogger, who is on a mission to publicise the local Hip Hop scene.
Sasa Klaas
Being the only visible and vocal femcee in recent years, she enjoyed the dominance for some time, as she was the only active female rapper. She went through the hands of veteran rappers such as Scar who taught her the ins and outs of the rap game. She has also collaborated with international female rappers such as DJ Naida, Ru, Gigi LaMayne and Devour. She is currently under the mentorship of HHP and Tasman, who is executive producer for her upcoming debut album. Sasa Klaas recently released a new single titled, MmamoNgwato.
Berry Heart
The poet is a recent edition to the pack, one can say she is quite a significant femcee, who comes with a new dimension of rapping in Sekgalakgadi her native language. Her beats come with a jazzy live instrumental too. She rocks the stage wearing revealing outfits.
Bouncy
Probably one of the most controversial femcees in the country, she is fearless and does the impossible every time. Bouncy released her debut album, B Defined, last year. The commercial rapper is well-known for her twerk dance moves. Signed under Off Campus, Bouncy is still finding her ground in the rap industry trying out new things every time.
Fio Matt Hala
She is probably one of the youngest femcees in the industry. Fio Matt Hala puts that RnB touch in her rap with her charm and soft voice. She is yet to release her debut mixtape that features American rapper Young Rebel, Euri and Noello. She has released singles such as Hold Up.
