Makhwengwe confirmed the suspension yesterday, but refused to disclose the reasons while Kgomela’s phone rang unanswered.

Kgomela was previously suspended and reinstated by the association.

The rift inside the BFA technical department has been in existence and the suspension of the two did not come as a surprise, a source said.

It is reported that there is bad blood between both Makhwengwe and Kgomela, who joined the association last year.

Kgomela once had a tiff with former Zebras assistant coach, Pio Paul which almost ended in physical confrontation. The technical director also had a frosty relationship with Zebras’ coach, Peter Butler.

Makhwengwe and Kgomela are alleged to have caused a headache for the association with their clashes. They are also accused of taking internal BFA matters to the media.

The suspension of the two would continue what has been a turbulent time for BFA president, Tebogo Sebego. Recently, the BFA parted ways with its vice president (administration), Tariq Babitseng after an investigation into abuse of funds.

BFA vice president (technical), Enerst Nthobelang jumped ship at a time when reports were awash of strained relations within the executive. Nthobelang quit to contest for political office.

Sebego referred inquiries about the two’s suspension to chief executive officer, Kitso Kemoeng who was unavailable at press time.

Kemoeng, who is into his second month at BFA, has his plate full as he attempts to stamp his authority in an organisation where relation issues have been a thorn.
