Botswana opened the five-day occasion in astounding style.
The tour attracted 350 cyclists from across Africa.
Participants will cycle for over 300 kilometres of challenging remote terrain in Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa. The annual event is aimed at raising funds for the Children in the Wilderness programme. Although the main event is the cycling, organisers of the event stressed the point that the charity campaign is not a race, but rather a chance for attendants to enjoy the wilderness scenery whilst raising funds.
The Nedbank Tour de Tuli, almost 11 years later, has hosted approximately 2,683 cyclists and it has risen over R14.1 million (P11 million).
The tour is renowned for its unique experience for both riders and spectators with its wildlife and geologically rich areas.
At the event, Showbiz noted that most riders and execrators were regulars at the event. Both the young and old flocked the event and set up little camps.
During the day, they travelled around the reserve appreciating the unique game.
The game included elephants, antelopes, and cheetahs, whilst hyenas made themselves visible and audible only during the night.
Showbiz caught up with 29-year-old Tuli-based rider, Mosa Masupe.
“It is a great experience. We get to travel through three different countries in just five days, the scenery is amazing, there is really no way I can explain it. You have to see it to believe it,” Masupe said.
