The song was released last week. She debuted it with a live performance on Flava Dome.
Amantle vocal projection quickly gives one an idea of what she was referring to. The song goes: “turn the lights down low/ re tle re dire tsa mahitshwana bana ba robetse/ ke go tshware ka dikgoponyana/ ke go suna I am drunk in love/ o ntshwarisa bogatsu shosho rato lago la mfuthumatsa/ babe you see/ I like it when u whisper sweet nothing on ma ear/ ntshware ka ditomo o mpofe ka di chain/ go 50 shades on me babe”.
The song is more of that Marvin Gaye Sexual Healing type, which goes straight to the point. Amantle explained that her song is a love/ sexual song based on deep Setswana language (puo e bofitlha). “I wanted to do something out of the box but using the cliché concept of love, so I thought of making a sexual song in Setswana,” the 21-year-old Amantle said.
She explained that Mahitshwana is dedicated to people that are deeply in love with each other, “the way they define their love is out of this world and the bond that is created out of that intimacy enhances their love and keeps them together”.
This is not the songstress’ first romantic song, a few months ago she collaborated with Nigerian artist Naija Boy on a song titled Mukele, which was done in Yoruba a Nigerian native language. She is scheduled to perform the song this Friday during Samantha Mogwe’s album launch at Botswanacraft. Over the years Amantle has shown growth and maturity as an artist, starting from being a My Star finalist who once struggled to establish her music career. The growth came this year when she transitioned from being an urban music artist to a jazz songstress with her first vernacular single, Moratiwa.
Mahitshwana is Amantle’s second single from her upcoming debut album Sa Pelo, which will be released on August 28.
