Despite the fact that she shared the stage with established names, such as Lister Boleseng and Zeus, the singer known for her beautiful voice and angelic character, was able to stamp her authority. Revellers screamed at the top of their voices when Samantha got onto stage in an all gold number.
The launch was widely publicised and the effects of the advertising blitz were felt throughout the night as the spacious Botswanacraft proved too small for the surging crowd.
Samantha began her set with her single Change followed by her chart topping single You. In the 13-track album, she features amongst others, Sasa Klaas and Zeus. Her breakthrough song Transitions, which is the title track of her album, was one of the songs that really put her on the map.
The video of the song has also received a lot of attention and it was ultimately nominated for Yarona FM Music Awards (YAMAs).
Attendees surely had their favourite songs, singing along to lyrics of their preferences, but it was Transitions, which she released mid last year that really had the crowd eating from the palm of her hands.
The man she features, Zeus was also there to support the newly wed.
Even though local RnB has not yet cemented its place in the local music industry, many see the woman as the one to change that. She is among the few women in the country to go the RnB route.
Speaking to Mogwe after the show she said, “the show went really well, the turn up was amazing. I didn’t expect so much love and support.”
Samantha further said, “From here my focus is on Re Batswana Essemble. We will be travelling down to Sweden and Norway soon, so I will be directing all my energy to that. Afterwards AFFRIMA in Texas, USA where I have been nominated for the best Female Southern Africa award. Its an exciting end of year for me as an artist.” Also spotted at the event was part of the women of Jazz, Nnunu Ramogotsi and Kearoma Rantao, My Star finalist Motswafere Sithole.
