The pageant will comprise of Miss Hope Teen Botswana and Miss Hope Botswana. There will also be an announcement of a specially elected Mr. Teen Hope Botswana. Each of the pageants has six contestants.
Hope pageants coordinator Tlhatlhogo Sengawane said their pageant aims to develop positive values.
“Ours is a Christian pageant based on values, character building and community involvement. We want to unearth women with a passion to become positive role models in their communities to spread hope,” she explained.
Sengawane stated that the contestants are people who want to touch the lives of others and make a positive impact in the society. The contestants were selected from different communities.
She added that they are not particular about looks, but are more concerned with the heart.
The Christian modeling pageant will understandably have certain restrictions. Contestants will not be allowed to wear revealing clothes like bikinis nor take nude pictures, or be allowed to wear make-up.
“Hope pageants aims at spreading hope to make the hopeless hopeful. It focuses on all the ages. It further instills contestants with skills and knowledge of becoming a compassionate and caring nation through community service,” Sengawane said.
The Miss Hope finals will boast nine judges from different countries such as the USA, South Africa, France and Botswana. Winners will walk away with plasma TVs worth P5, 000 each.
The winners of the Christian pageant will also get an opportunity to represent Botswana in Cape Town, South Africa this December where they will attend the Miss South Africa pageant show and interact with contestants.
