Decomposed body of 10-year-old girl found

The girl is yet to be identified.

The Officer Commanding for the Mogoditshane District No. 13, Senior Superintendent Godfrey Tlogelang said even as investigations continue, police suspect murder.

“We suspect its murder, but investigations are still ongoing. At this moment no one has come forward to claim her. We do not know her name or where she comes from,” he said.

Tlogelang revealed that a herdboy passing by found the body buried in a shallow grave.

“The herdboy says he was strolling around with his two dogs and noticed the dogs tussling over something. He told us that when he went to investigate he discovered the body,” Tlogelang said.

The deceased was found wearing a blue mini skirt and a short sleeved white top. A light brown blanket was also found next to her shallow grave.

Tlogelang said her badly decomposed body was immediately buried after a post mortem had been conducted.

“We do not have any leads or suspect in this matter. We will not give up but we appeal to members of the public to contact the nearest police if they have any missing children,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Police are investigating a possible case of money laundering involving a 39-year-old man from Moroka and a woman based in Gaborone. The two were found in possession of cash amounting to P169,000 at the Dibete Veterinary Gate.
