According to a press release, Limkokwing Fashion Club was introduced for the first time on African soil in grand style, in what the local fashion industry dubbed “The Mother of All Show-Stoppers.”

The Top Thirty Miss Botswana beauties fiercely invaded the ramp to showcase Limkokwing Fashion club merchandise which comprised a mix and match of bold leather dominated style, accompanied by gold studs, zippers, hoods, youthful and edgy ready to wear designs ranging from unisex t-shirts, carry all bags, jackets, caps and luxurious tops, hand-bags and bold jewellery which proved to be an instant hit with the entire audience.

Limkokwing Fashion Club was the vision and dream of Dato’ Tiffanee Marie Lim, (Associate Vice-President, Brand and Talent Development at Limkokwing University) daughter of Malaysia’s most prominent icon of creativity and innovation. Dato’ Tiffanee Marie Lim, has an innate flair for design and has made it a point to concretise this dream, not only for herself but for the creative students.

Dato’ Tiffanee Marie Lim was thrilled to announce, “It has been a joy learning how to do this with our students, who I really consider to be my friends. We are privileged to be surrounded by so many talented people!

I think Limkokwing fashion is so inspiring and it’s about time we did this! I have seen with my own eyes how people have responded to the University’s brand personality and I hope that really translates into people identifying with our products.

This is the world’s first, meaning a Malaysian Innovation, and we are proud to have been a part of fashion history this way”.

Local musician, Nnunu Ramogosi said the Miss Botswana pageant will never be the same again as the Fashion Show was impressive and also applauded the University as the official sponsors for a great event.

For her part, the Limkokwing University Regional & Corporate Director, Mercy Thebe said that Limkokwing University constantly encourages its students to put their practical skills to test so that they can meet the needs and wants of the present generation.

She further explained that the university was ultra proud of Limkokwing Fashion Club showcasing at the Miss Botswana Fashion Show, as well as the three students who were part of the young designers who showcased at the Fashion Show.

These students Thato Mminatau, Lorato Barwabatsile & Oganne Batsile scooped the top three positions during this year’s President’s Day Celebrations Fashion Design Competition.

Thebe further stated that Limkokwing Fashion Club is an investment made by the University into the talent of young designers for them to use as a case study and build their entrepreneurial skills by being exposed to the workings of a full retail brand as opposed to simple university merchandise which is very common.

The merchandise has been sold in over 20 countries including US, UK, UAE, Japan, France Sweden, Denmark, Canada, Australia and online.

Miss Botswana Fashion Show was attended by many local celebrities including Poetess Berry Heart, Artists; Punah, Nnunu, BK Proctor, Shanti Lo, Samantha Mogwe, as well as Government dignitaries such as the Mayor of Gaborone City Kagiso Thutlwe, DPS Broadcasting Services Mogomotsi Kaboeamodimo and the SADC Mission Support Officer Manuel Lutango.
