Nothing African about Vees new video

However, the much-hyped video raised eyebrows rather than thumps-up. The video was shot and directed in South Africa (SA), giving a fresh image as compared to his other videos. His heavily pregnant wife, Kagiso Sento and his Black Money Makers (BBM) crew also attended the launch.
A number of local stars including Dramaboi, Berry Heart and Resego Motlhokathari, were also present at the event. In the video, Showtime noted that although the title of the song is Africa, Vee failed to express the essence of Africa. The video depicts hot tourist spots in SA. Vee has scenes from the Nelson Mandela Bridge, Mandela’s childhood home and his statue. The video also features SA’s famous towers. Throughout the video, one could not help but conclude that SA will benefit more, since it has a lot of representation.
Vee has been nominated alongside Zeus and other artists from the region in the Best Male Southern Africa category of the African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA).
Showtime appreciates the move by Vee to upgrade his brand and the quality of his videos, but the popular musician would have done well by including a number of African scenes, rather than making SA the focus of his video shoot.
Vee, who has received a lot of support from his home country, should have made it a point that he features Botswana in his latest video.
Showtime observes that his most acclaimed dancer, Coming Soon is not the main act in the new video. Coming Soon can only be seen once someone squints their eyes, something which had critiques talking.
