The song is a sing-along hip-hop track, which has feel good sound features and a line-up of Balete artists who are also from Ramotswa. The artists are Kwaito star Thabo ‘T.H.A.B.O’ Bolokwe, Lorato Rantao, Johannes ‘Chrome’ Mangole and Lekgotla ‘Big L Wasekai’ Radikara.
“In hip-hop we have a thing called “Rep your hood” where there is an unwritten law that states that you should never forget your roots and that wherever you go you should carry where you are from with it. I thought I would make a song that represents what the youth see the village as,” DJ Izzy explained.
The Yarona FM Awards (YAMAs) nominee said he developed the concept when Razi music promoters of the Razi Independence Fiesta approached him. The track, which was produced and recorded at Bang Gae studios, has the potential of being a club banger with its catchy Bang Gae style of sound.
DJ Izzy, an accomplished urban musician, decided to take the Kasi and Motswako funk style with raps from T.H.A.BO, Chrome, Big L Wasekai, fusing with the beat.
Jazz sensation Lorato Rantao’s vocals combined with the flow of the beat to make the song a sing along tune.
“I wanted to let loose and just have a good time. It’s a fun song for moments in life where it does not matter what your musical preferences are, what you do for a living or what age you are. It’s a song you just have to get down to,” he said.
The track is the first official single to DJ Izzy’ debut upcoming album titled Next Best DJ.
“I needed a strong follow up to my first official single from my upcoming album Next Best DJ,” he said.
This weekend, DJ Izzy will shoot the music video for Razi in his home village Ramotswa. He urged all interested individuals who want to make cameo appearances in the music video to visit his online social media pages for details. DJ Izzy will perform the song for the first time in Ramotswa during the Razi Independence Fiesta gig next weekend.
