Organic Live Sessions is an open mic session held on Fridays after every fortnight at Cresta President Hotel. The event brings together new and established artists of different calibre including poets, comedians, rappers and singers.
Senyatso who was the closing act of the night was accompanied by a full band, which spiced up his contemporary music performance.
The 34-year-old musician performed a number of tracks from his upcoming album including Samponwane and Malaika.
Organic Sessions Live host Felicia ‘Nomadic Fe’ Tidimane, at some point removed her high-heeled shoes and joined Senyatso on stage, dancing with the singer, as the crowd filled the room with ululations and whistles.
His performance brought back memories of his late father, Duncan and Kgwanyape Band’s performances when they opened for the likes of Eric Clapton and UB40.
Prior to his performance there were a number of upcoming artists such as Abdul Shakur, Robin Hood Dituso, Mmakgosi Tau, Ntirelang Berman and Refilwe ‘Fifi’ Boleseng, daughter of Lister Boleseng staging their respective crafts on stage.
One upcoming artist who received a lot of appreciation from the crowd after his performance was Maru Raditladi who staged an acoustic performance, which included a cover version of Miley Cyrus’ Wrecking Ball.
Gothusang ‘King Blak’ Caiphus of Organic Live Sessions explained that the open mic session event started in August this year. He said the event is open to different forms of art.
“Your poetry/spoken word, dance, instrument playing, visual arts and so forth are all invited to exhibit their talents at the show,” he said.
King Blak and his associates, Nomadic Fe and Kago Letsale conceptualised the open mic concept. The next session will be in two weeks’ time.
