The resurfacing is part of several projects being carried out by the Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC). The Commission has invited tenders for the project.
Botswana Volleyball Federation (BVF) president, Daniel Molaodi said the project is spearheaded by the BNSC.
“Although as BVF we are not directly on it, we were informed that some of the Centres of Sports Excellence (CSE) facilities are earmarked for an upgrade. Our sports development officer did accompany the BNSC sports development director to the site in Radisele to confirm dimensions and also met the school management on the project,” he said.
Molaodi said the project is a welcome development as their CSEs have facilities that do not meet the standards of what the centres are supposed to be. He added that it would provide a better environment for athletes’ development going forward.
Another BNSC project is the construction of the futsal and volleyball courts with ablution blocks at Radisele Junior Secondary School for the Centre of Sports Excellence programme. The BNSC has also invited companies to tender for the provision of security services at the Maun Sports Complex.
Acting BNSC chief executive officer, Tuelo Serufho said the projects are expected to commence before the end of March. When asked how much the Commission has budgeted for the projects, Serufho said he could not disclose the amounts, as he would compromise the tenders. He said the Commission would be in a position to share the figures after the tenders have been awarded.
