MASTER DEE cries sabotage

He said this at the listening session of the previous My Star Top 3 winners at the Oasis Motel Tuesday night. After sampling the songs, Master Dee who was in company of former judges Sidney Dj Sid Baitsile, Kgomotso Tshwenyego as well its presenter Resego Motlhakathari, blasted local radio stations for not giving My Star winners airplay which deters them from hitting the market.
It is not the first time however that the brains behind My Star blasts radio stations. He said: “The question that always pops up is why My Star winners do not penetrate the market, but radio station do not play their songs.”
He added: “If there is something wrong tell me, what I am doing I am not doing it for myself, I have been sent to do this, whether someone likes it or not I will continue doing what I have been sent to do, through all the stumbling blocks, all the hurdles, I will only stop when God tells me to stop.”
MasterDee pleaded for help from anyone who could make the show grow even bigger and the participants to blossom in the industry. Although it had been previously reported by a local tabloid newspaper that Master Dee is set to leave the show, it emerged at the listening session that this might not be the case. He asked promoters and private companies to invest in the talented young people who participate in the show.
Asked whether he though the music he produced for the winners suited the Botswana market, Master Dee said: “In this album you cannot believe I did the guitars, the drums, the pianos and the arrangement and everything myself, but I need help. We trying to produce something that Batswana will listen to hence why we tried to change direction in this album as compared to the other previous winners.”
For the tenth installment of the show, there will be no countrywide auditions. My Star will this time around bring your favorite Top 15 contestants since 2007. This will be the faces that will battle it out for the coveted crown in 2016. A selection process will take place at the BTV auditorium this weekend, where all the top 15 contestants for the past nine years will go through auditioning.
“Some of them have surely rusted out whilst some managed to remain relevant,” he said. “On Saturday we will be picking out the best of the best from the lot.”
