In addition, Letsibogo dam, with a capacity of 100mcm is at 70.7%, contributes to the 100% needs of Selebi-Phikwe area, BCL mine, Mmadinare, Mahalapye and Palapye.
Another big Dam, Thune, with a capacity of 90mcm is also not pumping. Its water levels stand at 37.6% according to WUC report
Gaborone Dam, which has since been declared as failed, was once supplying 56% of the Greater Gaborone’s water needs, while South African dam, Molatedi, now at 4.9% traditionally supplies the greater Gaborone’s 16% of its water needs at full allocation, or 8% at half allocation.
Thanks to the recent rains Bokaa dam, responsible for the Greater Gaborone’s 25% water supply, is pumping again after filling up to 48% after recent outpours.
