Charma Gal
The Mosakaso singer, who needs no introduction, has dominated news headlines this year in more ways than one. If it were not for her messy divorce from her three-year-old marriage with former band member, Kabelo Mogwe, it was her largely reported new relationship with a ‘Phakalane business man’. Although it was surprising that within a month from her much-publicised divorce she was not shy from being seen in public with this mysterious man.
On her music career however Charma Gal who went solo not so long ago, with her hit song, Matebele. One could not help but wonder if her lyrics told a story. Her latest album, however, dubbed Sekuta Sa Ga Charma Gal has proven to be the hottest in town.
She is booked every weekend around the country and sometimes making appearances in neighbouring countries. It has also earned her four awards at the BOMU awards. It remains to be seen if her next album will be as hot as her current one. Goodluck for 2016, Charma wa ga hardrock.
Berry Heart
Berry Heart oh Berry Heart. The woman, who really got media attention when she first publicly declare her undying love for President Ian Khama has one controversy after another. If it is not her tongue kiss stunt with local rapper ATI on national television, it is her nude pictures circulating on Facebook. She is, however, tipped to launch her lingerie line tomorrow at the Cigar Lounge. The poet was involved in a public rant about a racist attack she says she encountered whilst on holiday in Kasane early this year. The case is allegedly still underway.
Slizer
The Diwewe hitmaker suffered a decline in music popularity but managed to enjoy her fair share of media attention.
Slizer who was this mid-year accidentally run over by fellow musician, Mingo, told this reporter that it was nothing major and has since recovered from the knock on her knee.
But her private life has been the highlight of the year. She has on numerous occasions been linked to local football stars and another Zimbabwean artist, but rubbished those claims off. She has never publicly declared her love interest since her baby daddy, and fellow musician, Mlesho.
Nijel Amos
A song has recently been released by Yarona FM personality DJ Izzy dubbed Nijel Amos, after the medalist sprinter. But it was not the song that made it to the list of newsmakers. it is the man that inspired the song that has made headlines. Amos whose baby mama’s identity is still unknown, welcomed his first born child barely two months ago. He unveiled her to his social media followers and introduced her as Zoey. Zoey was born in South Africa, however, close to home it was his affair with local female rapper Sasa Klaas that has been the talk of the country. The bloody break up between the two following a fight at former Gaborone Sun late last year was played low key before deciding to end their relationship.
The two, however, have remained close friends sine and were seen spending a lot of time together recently at the St Louis Fresh Fest held in Gaborone.
Kabelo Mogwe
What is left of the original members of Culture Spears is Kabelo Mogwe. Just like his ex-wife Charma Gal this has been his busiest year.
The Tonkana singer’s divorce has made headlines for the better half of this year, even overshadowing his album release.
Reasons for his divorce from his wife are still unknown. Most say infidelity, but this reporter can confirm that it will be sometime before Mogwe can fully recover. It does not help that his ex-wife and ex-band member are currently dominating airwaves and award ceremonies, whilst he is not, even though his album is just months on the shelves.
Daniel ‘Dan’ Kenosi
Making the list is former print journalist now publisher Daniel ‘Dan’ Kenosi. The 25-year-old from Palapye recently launched his website, Paparazzi News. He spent some time in jail beginning of this year for cybercrime. The man first burst into the scene after allegedly playing a part in exposing one of the cabinet minister’s bedroom shenanigans.
