Tshukudu warned: “If we do not do something now then we are leaving many minds for speculation and confusion, which may have devastating and long term effects on us as a federation”.
The national organising secretary, Johnson Motshwarakgole was assigned to work on the modalities of finalising the matter and report back in two months. Tshukudu also told the executive committee meeting that they need to come up with strategies of dealing with the effects of BOPEU withdrawing from BOFEPUSU.
In a related matter the president said they need to make the Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs come out clear on the status of BOFEPUSU as a Labour Centre.
“We need to stand firm on the ground and protect what is due to us as a federation. We must be accorded all rights and privileges of a labour centre. If they are not prepared to come out clear on this matter, we then have to seek legal opinion without any further delay”, Tshudkudu said.
He also told the executive committee that the recognition attained from the ministry makes them to have legitimate expectation in issues of tripartite.
Tshukudu added that it was proper that BOFEPUSU demands they be accorded representations in all the tripartite structures set up by the ministry to deal with workers’ rights, welfare, and conditions of service. Tshukudu urged his secretariat to liaise with the permanent secretary in the labour ministry to establish the causes of the delay in attaining full participation in the labour set committees or go to court.
